Answers to common traveller questions

With web check-in you tell the airline from home that you will be on your booked flight, and you can print your own boarding pass whenever suits you. That spares you the long lines at the terminal. At the airport you simply leave your bags at the designated drop point and then continue to security. The window normally opens one to two days ahead of departure and closes roughly one to two hours before take-off. Each airline publishes its own full rules on its website.
Make sure your passport is good for at least six months beyond the day you come back. Anyone heading to the U.S. needs a machine-readable passport. Also find out whether your destination asks for a visa.
Every part of your trip booked through us, such as flights, e-tickets and hotels, comes with its own paperwork. Paperwork for hotel, flight and package bookings is dispatched so that it reaches you no later than 7 days before you leave. Keep in mind that some items may arrive in separate mailings. If nothing has turned up a week before departure, write to us at info@reservationsflightstoday.com.
Most airlines worldwide now sell electronic tickets. Instead of a paper record, your reservation sits in the carrier's own booking system as digital data, so there is nothing printed to carry around or misplace, and nothing to wait for in the mail. You can also print your boarding pass yourself. At self-service kiosks you can skip the lines at the staffed desks that most airlines still run. To identify yourself at a kiosk, you can use any of these:
a) The credit or debit card used to pay for the tickets
b) A frequent-flyer or loyalty card
c) Your e-ticket receipt
You will also be asked to enter the airline booking reference issued when you reserved.
Expect the e-ticket within 7 days of your booking being confirmed. When you fly within 7 days of confirmation, it should arrive within 24 hours.
Occasionally a payment is held for an unscheduled security review, because we want every transaction to be safe. Such a review can hold up ticket issue by a few hours. If your payment does not pass, we will let you know by email.
Plan to check in within these limits:
International Flights - at least 3 hours before departure.
European Flights - at least 2 hours before departure.
Domestic Flights - at least 1 hour before departure.
Boarding opens 45 minutes ahead of departure. Flights Monkey does not accept any liability
A baggage allowance is the cap an airline sets on how many bags, or how much weight, each passenger may bring. It varies between carriers and between fare types.
On the most restricted fares there may be a tight weight limit, or no free bag at all. For bookings made online, look up the airline's own baggage rules. A few airlines let you add bags to a reservation in a single click.
If you need to travel with more luggage than your fare covers, we can help. We will take care of the request whenever you fly with one of our partner airlines. The airline may bill an extra fee, based on the weight or number of the additional pieces.

As a rule, entering a country outside the EU calls for a visa, and a layover in a third country on a connecting flight can call for a transit visa. The country pages on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website are a good place to check. That matters most for travellers who are not British, citizens of other EU states included.
To cancel a flight or accommodation booking, get in touch with our customer care team.
Every cancellation carries some cost for the traveller. The amount depends on the type of booking, and it is deducted from whatever refund you are due. Should you hold travel insurance and your reason for cancelling is covered by its terms, your insurer may repay part or all of what you lost.
If the airline permits a change, you pay the gap between the old fare and the new one. A penalty fee from the airline may apply on top of that, and we add our own administrative charge.
Tell us if you would like a window or an aisle seat. Some airlines let you pick seats online yourself; in other cases we can reserve one for you. Seat selection may cost extra, particularly with a budget carrier.

Once you have booked, we email you the current state of the reservation: confirmed, in progress or cancelled. A booking is usually cancelled when the payment does not go through.
Payment by credit or debit card is accepted online or by phone. Any outstanding balance can be settled by contacting Customer Service. Paying by credit card adds no surcharge.
